Migration of Platinum Group Metals - Nitric Acid production.

PGM (Platinum Group Metals) oxide vapors follow the gas flow downstream, infusing on contact surfaces until a saturation point is reached. With decreasing temperature, the PGM vapors becomes a particulate deposit, some of which are caught on the surface of downstream tubes and shells; influenced strongly by the temperature difference between the pgm rich process gas and the external process gas. The richest deposits however migrate to the storage tanks where a dense deposit of sludge can be found.
